The African Boxwood (Myrsine Africana) is a small-leafed dwarf tree that can grow to a height of 6 to 8 feet in nature.
It is a sub-tropical tree that can tolerate temperatures down to about 25 degrees, and must be protected from the cold in colder climates.
It will grow with direct sun, or in semi-shade. With adequate direct sun will produce purple berries (pictured above)
and its deep green leaves will show reddish purple edges which give it a striking appearance.
Its rough bark, even at a young age add to its desirability as a bonsai subject. |
