My first bonsai in 1964 was a Dwarf Japanese Juniper. Since I began my business in 1976, I have sold tens of thousands of bonsai & pre-bonsai.
I would estimate that half or more of these have been Dwarf Japanese Juniper. Considering that I have a list of
nearly 200 cultivars that I have offered for sale over the years, that is a startling amount.
The reason is that the Dwarf Japanese Juniper looks like most peoples idea of what a bonsai is.
In addition, It is strong, relatively pest free, easy to care for, readily available, and adapts to a wide variety of conditions.
Please Note: Juniper, like all pre-bonsai listed in green or black type on the previous page MUST be kept cool to cold in winter.
